The
agricultural Relief implemented a workshop on protected and
soilless agricultural

Agricultural relief held a workshop on
protected and soilless agricultural in the
presence of Ibtisam Salem, director of the
programs projects department ,the project
coordinators and agricultural experts from
the Agricultural Relief and from ICARDA
Foundation in Ramallah and representatives
from the Agricultural Research Centre and
the Hydrology Group and farmers from the
West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the workshpo
conducted via video conference within the
project of the safe and productive use of
waste and gray water and integrated
management of production and prevention,
funded by the International Center for
Agricultural Research in Dry Areas
"ICARDA."
At the beginning Ibtisam Salem welcomed
attendees from Gaza and the West Bank and
said: "This meeting is to break the
constraints and the siege imposed on the
Palestinian people, stressing the
importance of exchanging expertise and
experiences of agricultural between the
West Bank and Gaza, stated that success is
important for all and lead to the
disseminating of interest on the whole
Palestinian community , particularly in
agriculture and water projects, which
considered one of the important strategies
of the Palestinian people.
On behalf of Dr.Abdullah Omari Coordinator
of ICADA in Palestine Yahya Istete noted
that the meeting is the beginning of
future meetings to support the exchange of
knowledge and experience between the West
Bank and Gaza, adding that the protected
agriculture in Palestine better than many
in the Arab countries and stressed the
importance of exchanging expertise to
maximize the benefits to farmers of the
West bank and Gaza.
For his part, agricultural engineer Nemer
Ayesh of agricultural relief spoke about
the status of protected agriculture in the
Gaza Strip and provided details on the
cultivated greenhouses lands ,and areas
utilized for each class, also showed the
problems and obstacles that face Protected
cultivation like the problem of water
resources, land and poor agricultural
infrastructure, and their relationship to
natural resources and environment and lack
of funding, and the closure of crossings
in the face of export.
At the same aspect agricultural engineer
Saeed Laham from the Ministry of
Agriculture in Ramallah provided About
Protected Agriculture in the West Bank,
and the cultivated area for each class and
a detailed explanation of seedlings such
as tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, melons,
compared to the importer and the Israeli.
On the other hand, all of Shady Habash,
Walid Al-Sultan, the coordinators of the
project of safe productive use of waste
and gray water and integrated management
of production and prevention ,provided
definition of the project and the results
of research and tests conducted during the
project in the sectors of water and
integrated management and reviewed Qatar
experience in particular agriculture
without soil and the possibility of being
applied in the Gaza Strip and the problems
they faced and how to overcome , and the
results obtained.
On the other hand farmers from Gaza Ahmed
Dahir and Mohammed Bisharat and farmerss
of the West Bank provided experience in
the cultivation of different classes and
questions on some agricultural experiments
in both regions for the dissemination of
experiences.
At the end of the workshop participants
called for the need to hold similar
meetings and cooperation between the
technical teams for the exchange of
experiences among people of one nation in
the West Bank and Gaza to eliminate
obstacles and political constraints that
are imposed on all Palestinian people, as
recommended by the audience to pay more
attention to provide Alternative pastures,
and repeat the experiment because of it’s
importance in the field of animal care,
and the provision of special laboratory
for advanced agricultural research..
