The
PARC meets
ICARDA association in Amman, Jordan

PARC met in the Jordanian capital the
International Center for Agricultural
Research in Dry Areas "ICARDA" which
provided detailed reports on the safe use
of waste and gray water ,and integrated
management of production and prevention.
The meeting discussed a number of
technical and administrative aspects and
presentation of the main activities and
achievements that have been implemented
during the phase of implementing the
projects, and provide detailed technical
report of the reality experienced by
farmers in the Gaza Strip from the
problems of water and closures and the
possibility of re-use of wastewater and
how to access the protected cultivation in
greenhouses Agricultural.
Then the results and outputs of the
research study falling within the
activities of the project was introduced ,
the most importance part was the revealing
of the actual needs of farmers, to assist
and help them to increase yield and reduce
water use and soil protection from
pollution by re-use of treated wastewater
on farms and the gray treated water in
home gardens and applying of the (IPPM)
system in greenhouses.
The research gathered information about
the waste and gray water and the
efficiency of processing and the ability
of using it to irrigate fruit trees, in
addition to information about fresh water
in terms of efficiency, quantity, and
study aspects of social, economic and
political problems of water in the Gaza
Strip.
Mechanisms have been developed for
practical application of the remaining
phase of the project which will address
training for farmers and engineers at home
and abroad to achieve the best results to
achieve the objectives of the project.
The agricultural relief mentioned that
they were considered as a member of the
steering committee for projects of ICARDA
in Palestine which will be held twice a
year,
ways of cooperation between agricultural
relief and ICARDA were discussed to expand
into new projects commensurate with the
status of agriculture in the Gaza Strip,
particularly in the field of urban
agriculture and water.
